Cornhole Player Rankings for Tournament Directors

The ACO continues to create standards for the sport of cornhole. First, we developed a standard to the products used in the sport. The next step was recognizing professional and amateur players, which we have done with the ACO Skills Challenge Ranking (SCR) and the CornyForty.

We have met a lot of skilled cornholers over the years. Although the players are not ranked in the SCR or CornyForty, we wanted to recognize them for their mad cornhole skills. Therefore, we created the Cornhole Players Ranking (CPR). The CPR is a cornhole inclusive list ranking ACO and non-ACO players based on their performances throughout the year.

A player's CPR will consist of the following variables:

• A player's ranking on various cornhole group's rankings
• A player's finish in ACO and non-ACO tournaments Non Top Gun ACO tournaments and non-ACO tournaments are classified as T4 level tournaments. Points are earned on finishes in singles and doubles tournaments. (1st-8pts, 2nd-7pts, 3rd-5pts, 4th-5pts) Players also earn points at ACO Top Gun tournaments. Points earned vary on tournament level. The cumulative score ranks players as Pro Caliber (29+ points) or Semi-Pro Caliber (13pts-28pts).

We are asking players and tournament directors to keep us informed of these results by posting them on the forum. We want to recognize player's performances and we need their help to make it happen.

If you know anyone you would like to see recognized as a skilled cornholer, please inform the ACO, a player or a tournament director. Remember, players don't have to be a ACO member to be on the Cornhole Player Ranking list.

Check the Pro-Caliber and Semi Pro-Caliber list out by visiting http://www.americancornhole.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2120

The ACO

Celebrate National Cornhole Day at HoleHeadz Fest '09. The American Cornhole Organization is celebrating the first National Cornhole Day by kicking off the first HoleHeadz Fest, scheduled for June 26-27, 2009 at Point Park in Carrollton, Kentucky.

As you know, ACO coordinates tournaments and events across the country throughout the year. The HoleHeadz Fest is a unique opportunity for even more cornhole enthusiasts to come together, for a long weekend of skill challenges and competitions, music and food. Each of the top 10 teams will win $500. All games will be conducted with ACO official Classic Series boards and bags. Dates and locations of other states’ HoleHeadz festivals will be announced as they become available for June 2010.

The kick-off fest in Kentucky will be conducted on a 15-acre site at the confluence of the Ohio and Kentucky rivers in downtown Carrollton. Camping and lodging facilities are nearby. For more information visit www.americancornhole.org or call (888) 563-2002.

Some of the things going on over the weekend:

- Live Music - Camping - Basketball, Sand Volleyball, Wiffleball and of course a HOLE LOTTA CORNHOLING
- Grilling out - BYOBB - Bring your own boards and beer
- ACO's very own Robert Bennett will be there with his Stoned Pizza
- $5000 Cornhole Madness Doubles tournament
- Lot's of partying with our friends from around the country........see you in Carrolton June 26th.

This weekend is going to be nothing but laid back. The ACO is not taking anything seriously this weekend, except that we want to have a seriously killer time chilling and having nothing but fun. We'll play the games when we get to them. We will not be using our Player Choice bags or our Tournament Series boards but instead will be busting loose on our Classic Series sets and Classic bags.

The structure of the event is subject to change but here is the basic idea of how we will be running the event. Corhole Madness Doubles Each team will be comprised of one Pro-Caliber or Semi-Pro Caliber player and one recognized amateur. Each player on each team will compete in four different events. Teams earn points in each event based on their performances. The teams with the highest point total after all four events wins first place.

Here’s the killer news all you HoleHeadz, this event is a guaranteed $5000.00 purse event. We are going to award $500.00 in prize money to each of the top 10 teams over the weekend. Here is how the tournament is broken down.

Friday Night:
Stage I – Seven21 Challenge – Players pitch seven bags to score as many points as possible pitching from the pro distance of 27’ (front edge to front edge). Normal cornhole scoring rules apply (ie Woodies = 1pt; Cornholes = 3pts). Maximum number of points a player may earn is 21 points.
Stage II – AirMail Challenge – Players pitch eight bags 30’ from the hole. AirMails are worth five points. Maximum number of points available to earn by each player is 40 points.

Saturday:
Stage III – Doubles Round Robin - Players are divided into two groups based on their accumulated points in Stage I & II. Group A consists of the top 50% points earners; Group B consists of the bottom 50% of poiints earners. The top player in Group A will be teamed up with the worse player in Group B. (Ex: 1 & 128, 2 & 127, 3 & 126). Each team plays three games. Points available as follows based on overall record: 0 wins 3 losses = 0 points / 1 and 2 = 5 points / 2 and 1 = 12 points / 3 and 0 = 20 points
Stage IV– Singles Tournament – Best 2/3, Single Elimination. Players are seeded based on their current ACO SCR Scores. Players without a SCR score are randomly seeded after all SCR scores are seeded. Each player wins points based on how far he or she advances. Points available as follows: Top 64 = 3 / Top 32 = 6 / Top 16 = 10 / Top 8 = 15 / Top 4 = 20 / Runner Up = 25 / First Place = 30

Teams again will be a two person team.

Each team is allowed one PRO or SEMI-PRO Caliber player and the other player must be an Amateur.

Cost to purchase a team to play in the Cornhole Madness Doubles:
$40 for a CornyForty Member
$50 for a paid ACO Member
$65 for a Non-ACO Member

Call today 888.563.2002 to register your team.

Space is limited for the $5000 tournament but there will be no limit to the HoleHeadz allowed to come out to Carrollton, KY just to hang out with other cornhole freaks from around the country to celebrate National Cornhole Day at the HoleHeadz Fest '09 this June 27, 2009. So if you don't get into the tournament in time or just don't want to play in the tournament feel free to still come on over to Carrollton to chill out with us.

Game On!

National Cornhole Day is Declared!

The American Cornhole Organization is designating the last Saturday of June as National Cornhole Day!

This is a chance for all lovers of the game to get out and have some free fun with other players from around their area. Imagine one day when hundreds of thousands of players simultaneously recognize this great game and day. How fun will that be?

The idea for this came from one of our agents, Rocky Conteduca from Las Vegas, Nevada. Rocky believed it would be really cool if each city across America picked a certain park or location that all players in that region could converge on with their boards and bags and just start playing the game with strangers and friends.

We agree! Great idea Rocky.

Mark you calendar.

June 27, 2009, as the first National Cornhole Day!

We'll share more details about the festivities as they develop.
